February Update

Dear friends and family,
Wow this month has been full of surprises! It stared out with me going to a region north of Kathmandu with two YWAM teams from New Zealand. There we did some local outreach (which included praying for the local police force!) and prayer and worship in the area as it experiences a lot of human trafficking. Then one of the teams and I got to speak at a leadership conference in a mountain village about two hours north. I loved spending time with this team as one of the leaders was in my small group when I served in New Zealand two years ago! I also just enjoyed spending time in the mountains away from the polluted city and learning about a new culture and way of life. I was blessed to do some discipleship of the Nepali believers, which is greatly needed here.
This month I have also been slowly fitting into my place at Beauty For Ashes (BFA). Right now I am helping with some projects that help keep the business running as well as slowly getting to know the women and building relationships with them. I was able to share my testimony and some wild berry tea from back home. Please pray that I have more opportunities to get to know the women and share Christ with them. Also this month I was able to attend a three day Krav Maga self-defense course. A small team from England came and taught Nepali women the class with the idea that they will have a fighting chance if attacked. Attacks on women are sadly not uncommon in Nepal. This class provided them with basic skills that help them fight back and defend themselves.
Lastly I would like to thank those who have donated to my motorbike fund, I still need about $1,300. This month has also been full of reunions with missionaries and friends I met back home and abroad. It has been such a blessing to see familiar faces in unfamiliar places and catch up with long lost friends. Please pray that God will continue to give me opportunities to share His word, to reject apathy, the energy to keep going and for continued good health!

Feb. 2017 update

Hello friends and family,             We have successfully completed the second month and the first module (there are four modules total)! The days are getting longer and longer here and I feel that summer will be here before we know it. This past month has been interesting as we all have finished settling in and are finding how we all fit as we do life with each other.  If any of you have ever lived in community then you may know some of the joys and, dare I say it, sorrows that this type of living can bring. June 2017 Update

Hello friends and family, Happy Summer! We have done it, we have made it to the end. This is the last week of GoMidwife Homer, AK 2017. We graduate the students on Thursday the 29 th and everyone will be heading their separate ways by July 1 st . It has been an interesting six months and God has grown me a lot though this past year. As far as staff duties it has been one of the easiest staff jobs I have had, but in regards to interpersonal relationships it has been the most difficult, but God is always faithful and he always brings life and healing if we allow him. I have grown to love Homer, AK and have been involved in an amazing church here. It will be so difficult to leave this place, but I am excited for the future and what God has in store for me next. So, what is next for Kylee? Well I am planning on leaving Homer on July 2 and moving back to Eagle River. Two years later or April Update

Hello friends and family,              *Ok warning. Please bear with me on this one. I’ve already wrote and rewrote this letter three times. It’s hard when you have so much to say to condense it to what you are about to read. April 25, 2015. Two years ago. Man I cannot believe it’s been two years already. I was in Kathmandu, Nepal in a hotel garden when the 7.8 earthquake hit. It happened on a Saturday which was my day off. I had plans to go to this older part of town where the houses are hundreds if not thousands of years old to explore and take photos. God had other plans however. Beauty for Ashes, the company I was volunteering with at the time, had set up a booth at a local celebration for the Dutch expats.
