June Update

Dear friends and family,
As I stated in the previous update I was not granted a visa and will be returning home June 28th. This month has been equally restful and stressful. I took a long weekend earlier in the month to relax and take a breather since I have been going full on since the earthquake, although I don’t think I can fully rest until I leave Nepal. Work has been equally great and crazy. I am learning what it means to disciple women in a work setting as well as helping them deal with past hurts and present problems. I have also been saying many unexpected goodbyes, not only as I prepare to leave but as other missionaries have faced visa problems as well.
So what’s next? Well I plan on staying with my parents in Northern Washington for at least my first month back in America. There I will get some much needed rest as well as pray about what is next and process what has happened these past 6 months. I will be looking for a job (in Alaska) as well as a vehicle as I sold mine before I left. If you guys have any leads feel free to let me know. When I get back stateside I would love to share with everyone what I was doing here with more detail and freedom, so if you would like arrange for me to speak at your Bible study or small group feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
I wanted to say a huge thank you for all of those who have financially supported me. It meant so much to me and you blessed me tremendously. Thanks to all my prayer warriors, there is no doubt in my mind that your prayers kept me safe and healthy in times that should have resulted in illness and disaster. I wanted to say another thanks to my friends who just stayed in contact with me while I was away, your well wishes and stories about normal life helped make things easier while I was away from the ones I love.
Finally I wanted to ask those who have supported me to continue on for at least one more month. Coming home early has created somewhat of a financial strain on my resources and your continued support will help me get back on my feet as I look for a job once home.

Feb. 2017 update

Hello friends and family,             We have successfully completed the second month and the first module (there are four modules total)! The days are getting longer and longer here and I feel that summer will be here before we know it. This past month has been interesting as we all have finished settling in and are finding how we all fit as we do life with each other.  If any of you have ever lived in community then you may know some of the joys and, dare I say it, sorrows that this type of living can bring. June 2017 Update

Hello friends and family, Happy Summer! We have done it, we have made it to the end. This is the last week of GoMidwife Homer, AK 2017. We graduate the students on Thursday the 29 th and everyone will be heading their separate ways by July 1 st . It has been an interesting six months and God has grown me a lot though this past year. As far as staff duties it has been one of the easiest staff jobs I have had, but in regards to interpersonal relationships it has been the most difficult, but God is always faithful and he always brings life and healing if we allow him. I have grown to love Homer, AK and have been involved in an amazing church here. It will be so difficult to leave this place, but I am excited for the future and what God has in store for me next. So, what is next for Kylee? Well I am planning on leaving Homer on July 2 and moving back to Eagle River. Two years later or April Update

Hello friends and family,              *Ok warning. Please bear with me on this one. I’ve already wrote and rewrote this letter three times. It’s hard when you have so much to say to condense it to what you are about to read. April 25, 2015. Two years ago. Man I cannot believe it’s been two years already. I was in Kathmandu, Nepal in a hotel garden when the 7.8 earthquake hit. It happened on a Saturday which was my day off. I had plans to go to this older part of town where the houses are hundreds if not thousands of years old to explore and take photos. God had other plans however. Beauty for Ashes, the company I was volunteering with at the time, had set up a booth at a local celebration for the Dutch expats.
