November Update
Hello dear friends and family,
I am
sorry I have not written this sooner. As some of you may have guessed or have
heard I have completed the educational portion of my midwifery training on
November 19th!! So many of you have been asking “what’s next”? First off I want to clarify that I am not yet
a midwife I still have much training to do and a big exam before that happens.
And we are still waiting on the state of Alaska to hear if we can do an apprenticeship
in Alaska or not, we will hopefully hear by the end of this year or the beginning
of the next. I am currently in Washington state until the end of the year
visiting my family and working a seasonal job. I am planning on returning to
Alaska by January 1st.
For the
past couple months I have been praying about what is next for me, should I do
an apprenticeship right away? What type of midwife do I want to be? Do I even
want to continue in midwifery? After much prayer and some unexpected directions
from God I will actually be heading back to Homer. There will be another
GoMidwife school happening there from January to June of 2017. I will be
staffing that school and will considered to be on staff at the YWAM base there
as well.
I am
very excited to be in ministry with YWAM again. This midwifery training wasn’t merely
medical training but missional as well. There was discipleship, intercession
and training in how to operate in both the home and mission field. I hope to
bring even more of these elements into the next school. I am also excited to
reach out to the local community as Homer is a very spiritual place and a lot
of temporary people roll through there in large numbers.
For
my Washington friends if you would like to meet up while I’m here let me know.
Alaska friends I will be in town for a week before I have to head to Homer
again. For those of you interested in supporting me I will need around $7,000
for my time on staff I will let you know how to make a one time or monthly
donation in the next update letter. To everyone who helped in some way by
praying, donating, feeding me, housing me and visiting me down in Homer while I
was a student, thank you so much, I love you all and count myself blessed to
walk this planet with you!!
Blessings,
Kylee
Nicholas
