First month in Redding
Dear friends and family,
I hope this finds you
all well. First, sorry it has taken me so long to get this out to all of you.
Some reminders; I am currently working with YWAM Redding helping them to
pioneer a new base of operations. This means that we are literally starting
from nothing, but also we get to see amazing ways of God’s provision in our
lives. For example until about three weeks ago we were all working out of the
living room of my house, but God provided a new office and home for us and we
have been slowly getting established in the office space.
My role has changed
somewhat here. I am the assistant to the base director as well as head of
personnel and now the office manager, God has given me new skills in order to
work and thrive here but I will only be working in these roles until December. Some
recent news since being here we have gone out and done some street evangelism a
couple of times. One group saw a man accept Christ right away (Amen
halleluiah!!!) other groups prayed for people and saw knees and arthritis
completely healed! We really do serve an amazing God.
This past week our base
held a Foundations of Discipleship
Training Schools seminar. About eight bases from California, Washington,
Oregon and Colorado came out to get training. It was a great week of learning
and meeting new people and even old friends! It was stressful for me as I
helped assist in its planning and preparing but over all very beneficial for us
as a base and leadership team.
One last cool story; so
yesterday was September 11th (as I write this). As a staff team we
went to the local Islamic center and decided to bless a local Muslim leader. We
talked with him, shared the gospel, prayed for healing and just blessed him. He
was resistant but also accepted the things we said. As we left we gave him a
gospel tract and assured him we would visit him again in the future. The whole
vision and mission of our base is to see transformation and revival in the
Muslim world, be that in the USA or Middle East. Yesterday of all days we felt
it was important to mend bridges that have been burned through ignorance and
fear. God loves all of his creation and desires to be in a relationship with
all his children and bring them to redemption through the love and gift of
Jesus Christ. As a base (and as Christiana) it is our mission to share the
gospel story making people realize their sin but also sharing the hope they
have through Jesus.
I leave you with this challenge, the next time
you hear a story of Islamic extremists instead of cursing them, wishing them
dead, becoming overcome with fear and hatred or a sense of hopelessness try
praying for them. Intercede on their behalf, pray that the God of this universe
would break through the darkness in their life and make himself know to them.
Pray that God would send Christians who would wake up and listen to God and go
preach the gospel to the Muslim world no matter the cost or sacrifice and be
willing to go yourself or support those who do without fear or prejudice.
Be blessed,
Kylee Nicholas
